DoD Podcast Episode 10

Important Notice – Sections of this Podcast are not fit for younger ears.

In this episode of the DoD Podcast, hosts Kaiciunis, Thornd, and Bluecrew thanked last week’s podcast from the Focused Fire group for hosting, right after playing a brief ad from their new sponsor, Kai’s Meat Market. Discussion kicked off with Disney’s newest trailer for Rogue One. Blue and Kai lament the missing Bothans from the trailer, though not too much as they both agree that the Bothans were pretty much douches in the Expanded Universe stories. They also both simply loved the portrayal that actress Genevieve O’Reilly does of Mon Motha, noting the perfection of both her look and voice when compared to the original actress.

Discussion moved to the April updates where the Division and Destiny will be dropping new content on the 12th of April. Current “backpack” bug is looking to be eradicated from the Division finally, (though Kai is too low a level to notice, and Blue still doesn’t care). Incursions, termed mini raids, are set to test player capabilities along with new gear scores in the Division. Destiny’s new update will be looking at Warlock abilities and PVP tweaks. Moving right along, the guys cover Jessica Shea, aka BS Angel, of 343 leaving the company as of the 8th after having been a community manager for some time. Also, opening today was the Battleborn beta which they quickly talk about before moving on to the BAFTA awards and the Fallout 4 winning Best Game, a first for the amazing company.

After gaming news, hosts made complete morons of themselves by try some impressions of various Disney and LOTR characters. Blue had to actually look up who “Nigel the Pelican” was from Finding Nemo, and Thornd had to do the same for “Carl” from UP. Kai butchered an attempt at voicing both Golum and Smeagol, proving that a voice actor he is most certainly not. Next came some story time. Kai read three articles from the incredible website, which is similar to getting a history lesson from a tiger riding a unicorn that spits fire and farts rainbows. Finally, the DoD received a challenge to get their twitter numbers up, and the Dads have set their sights on 20k followers, just because they can. Also comes word that the website is being worked on. No promises of what/when that will all entail, but it is just a way of the “Sinister Six” letting folks know that they are being heard.

We would also like to give full credit for our “Badass Chronicles” to the folks at Bad Ass of the Week. We didn’t write or create any of what we read from in this episode. If you’d like to go and read the articles that were read, and others, we highly recommend it. Here are the links:

Again, the DoD didn’t write any of this AMAZING material, we just read it.

DoD Podcast Episode 08

This episode, the Dads get back to their old podcast ways, talking about games, movies, and tech “stuff”.  We were joined by UnfittingReaver, the Lead Community Manager for DoD Xbox.  Blue, Kai, Reaver, and Th0rNd discussed recent game news regarding The Division and Destiny, and delved into discussions about the amount of lore that exists in the games that we love(d) and play.

The dads also discussed some recent births within our ranks, sending our congrats out to Sam Silver and Baron Butters for the recent additions to their family.  We springboarded into some funny “Dad Stories” where we all shared some of our stories that make dads unique.

Kai took the show to a whole new level with his story of a menacing brick and left Blue and Th0rNd in a fit of laughter.

The show ended with a unique “call to action” for the next show (April 8th).  Kai had to leave the show early so Blue and Th0rNd decided that a good challenge was called for.  Please submit all your impersonations/impressions you would like Kai to perform on the next show tokaiciunus@dadsofdestiny.net and CC th0rnd@dadsofdestiny.net, with “Kai Impressions” in the subject line.  Because we’re mean, it will be required that Kai perform these impressions live on the next show.

Th0rNd asked for graphic submissions that can be displayed on tshirts, and 25% of the proceeds will go directly back to the graphic artist who submits.  Please submit these images toth0rnd@dadsofdestiny.net with “Tshirt Campaign” in the subject.

As always, we promote and welcome your feedback:

DoD Podcast Episode 07

Don’t Wake Daddy

Let us entice you into our podcast with the smooth rumblings of a snoring brit! During the pre-show, Blue and Th0rNd called KP to get everything set up, and noticed his phone was set to “auto-answer”. Many laughs were had as nearly 30 minutes at the beginning of the show are consumed by KP snoring. Apparently time changes differently in the UK!

The dads talk about the feedback that was gained from last week’s call-to-action and they all discussed their thoughts, opinions, and ways that we can make a better community for all dads. The dads also put a call for help out for one of our own, Mr. NecroEthos, whose newborn son was having difficulties and was placed into the NICU. The community rose up, as it always does, to help Necro through this difficult time and over $100 was raised for his family during the podcast.

The dads also discussed the Division which has seen a lot of support from the player base. DoD hinted at a tshirt design contest in which the creators of the designs would get a large cut of any funds earned from the sell of the tshirt they designed. The Chicago meetup was discussed – a cross-community meetup for all Midwest gamers (and those who want to be Midwest for a day! :) ). This will be taking place in June.

The Dadvice portion was a very interesting topic for many of the members, as the dads discussed “What did you experience as the other half to a pregnant lady?” This brought on some funny stories of pregnancy and birth from a dad’s perspective, and also helped alleviate some concern of KP himself as his baby is due in a little under two months from now.

This show was a semi-follow up to last week’s show where the dads did discuss the more “serious” topics, but it quickly turned back into the fun that we all have just talking about dad-stuff. We continue to ask for feedback to grow our community into the best spot for a dad (who happens to be a gamer) to rest and relax. Please feel free to submit your questions via the avenues below.

DoD Podcast Episode 06

Step into the Office

This week on The DoDPodcast, the Dadmins decided to go a little off script. Thorn, Kai, and Kp all answered some questions that the community at large had been asking in regards to the current and future states of the Dads of Destiny with Blue on hand to provide a non-senior admin take on the subjects. Join them as they open up about some of the difficulties that the DoD has had in the past. They dig into what it is that being a member of the DoD means to them, as well as what it is exactly that the Dadmins do. They talk about the funding requests that have popped up in the last few weeks, as well as discuss the finer points of the big E3 trip and why it is so important for us. The guys look back at the roots of the community, where we all started and some of the stories that go along with that. This week was more of an open letter to every member of the DoD, one that not only allowed the senior admins to discuss the missteps, but also the future and focus of the DoD moving forward. The Dadmins share their desire to get back to those roots, back to the focus on building the family of brothers here at the DoD and not just be a group of gamers. It was a little bit more of a somber recording, though not without it’s laughs. They ended the cast with an open call to all DoD members to ask questions that they crew will answer live on the next episode, any question at all. If you would like to ask a question the next podcast, you can do it by submitting the questions to:
