RadioPress Reads – Comics – Scandalous Loki!
This week the list of comics was a bit sparse with little of interest popping up, but we managed to find three stories that should have given us hope. Enjoy RPG Reads August 5.
Loki is back at is in this third installment of Vote Loki. We start the story with our ever tenacious reporter headed out to interview the Hydra agents from the first issue, if you remember they tried to assassinate the two presidential candidates and Loki swept in to save the day. While on the road she finds out that they have been transferred to a medium security prison, so she diverts course and within seconds finds herself confronted with the wreckage of said prison transport. The first thing you’d think is cover-up, and soon you find out that the pieces start falling in place. Shortly after this the debate between the three presidential hopefuls begins and Latveria becomes an important topic. Loki makes mention that while the country has been abandoned by Dr. Doom and is in turmoil, it is not up to the U.S. to police them but to offer peaceful solutions basically leaving the other two candidates to grovel. Unfortunately, Loki orchestrates a terrorist plot to wipe out both warring factions in Latveria and is “caught” red handed. I say “caught” because Loki is never caught without reason, his scandalous actions cause huge media backlash but, as is the reality of this world, his ratings spike and he looks to be moving quickly first place in the presidential race. The issue ends there with a bit of a cliff hanger and a ‘wait for next issue!”. This issue has been nothing but entertaining on all levels, I will recommend it to anyone who would like an interesting and topical read.
Hot off the press and gracing new stands a day before the release of Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn gets her own comic reinstated for this year. It seems that she has her own business as a circus owner. She has plenty of fun and fancy friends who help with the show and some serious innuendo bless the pages of this comic. All this should be pretty entertaining and Harley as a character has plenty of depth to work with, which is why this start is so disappointing. Plenty of it feels forced and in the end it was pretty boring to read through. I can honestly say that as much as I love Harley and what she brings to the table, that this comic left me scratching my head wondering where it all could have gone wrong. The first few pages were alright, there was a spa bonding moment with her and Poison Ivy they discussed life and where they were headed which i felt should segue into something a little more interesting but after that it all fell pretty flat. I think this might deserve a second read once issue #2 releases but for now I’m going to recommend you do something else with your time, maybe watch paint dry or grass grow or play vanilla Destiny…
More Rebirth! Coming off of the series Grayson, Dick has been displaced and is no longer part of Spyral since its been disbanded. He is reconnecting with old contacts and trying to help current ones find their way out of the lifestyle of super spy. He mentions the origin of the name Nightwing that it came from Superman when he was told stories of superheroes on Krypton and what they stood for, this would eventually lead Dick Grayson to transition from Robin to Nightwing and go on to be his own hero separate from Batman. The great thing about this comic is that it starts off as a transition from one insane lifestyle back into a previous one and is showing how Dick is taking his old name back. It gives him the opportunity to becomes what he was and return to being the hero he once revered. It almost feels like a coming of age story all over again but with a twist of nostalgia. I’d give this a read if you have been following the Grayson series and his escapades with Spyral. Dick Grayson has always been a fun character with plenty to bring to the table so pick this up if you have the time, you won’t regret it.http://radiopressgaming.com/2016/08/rpg-reads-august-5/http://radiopressgaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/aug5-960x526.jpghttp://radiopressgaming.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/aug5-150x150.jpgComicsLiteratureHarley Quinn,Loki,Marvel,NightwingThis week the list of comics was a bit sparse with little of interest popping up, but we managed to find three stories that should have given us hope.
