Captain America Turns 75 Harley Davidson responds in kind
So our Star-Spangled Avenger, the Sentinel of Liberty or as he is most commonly known Captain America, has hit the ripe old age of 75. 75 years of rich Nazi fighting, God pummeling and all around world saving history could never have prepared us for the tidal wave of insanity that Marvel has brought to us in both games, comics and other media. While as a comic book fan I have loved every moment of this, as a Motorcycle enthusiast this next bit of information had me screaming like only my friends 5-year-old daughter could do.
As many of you have seen in the past with the release of the Captain America movies, Marvel has once again teamed up with Harley-Davidson to give us some sweet superhero styled motorcycles. This whole line of bikes shine brightly and show just as much character as the heroes they are modeled after. The unfortunate thing about this, and as someone who would have loved to spend all his bucks on these it made me immensely sad, they are only available through contest in New Zealand or Australia. If you want to take a look at these puppies and drool from afar, you can hit up the Super Hero Customs page and see them in all of their glory. If you want to my favorites, I’ve got the pictures below, but it’s definitely worth it to check the website for more information, especially if you are in Australia and able to enter the contest. One thing I’ll say about these custom bikes, is that each design and model matched to the hero works so well and we discuss the similarities below.
Street Glide Special – Freedom
The street Glide Special really fits the Captain America feel and flow, it’s a rugged bike with a soft feel that, in the end works well and is work horse just like Captain america himself. I could see a more appropriate choice for the man in with the Shield.
V-Rod Muscle – Courage
The V-rod Muscle scream modern, slick and quick. If Tony Stark rode a bike instead of rushing around in his Audi, this would be his ride through and through. Loaded with a performance engine created in collaboration with Porsche and Harley-Davidson engineers to build something special and push the H-D brand into the roadster market, you can’t help but feel like Iron Man would be proud.
Fat Boy Lo – Strength
The Fat Boy has always been a favorite bike, a dream bike if you would, from a young age. The fact that they decided to associate The Hulk with it, just feels right in every way. Starting with a set of huge front forks and narrowing into a beastly and loud Twin Cam engine to help you roar through the city streets and onto the highway, this screams Hulk.
Road Glide Special – Transformative
If there is one thing I think of when I see Ghost Rider, its old school biker, badass and coming for vengeance. The word Transformative really fits this bike and fits the old style of Ghost rider. Toting the flames and serious attitude this comfortable ride is something you’d probably see the Spirit of Vengeance melting into his new iron horse.
Lo Rider S – No-Nonsense
Ant-Man, small, quick and interestingly stylish in his approach. This Low Rider custom has all the right mods in all the right places to really give the feel of our favorite tiny hero. The red headlamp to mimic the red-eye shades is a nice touch, right down to the two-tone chrome and red leather seat. It might be small but it comes with a pretty big punch.
Breakout – Ferocious
Black Panther has always been one of the Marvel Universe’s most adaptable and intelligent Superheroes, which makes sense when you realize that the Breakout is Harley Davidson’s most customizable motorcycle to date. This beauty usually sports a wider rear tire and brings their bikes into more of a drag racing style, something they never had before a few years ago. This bike with its customization is sporting a wide front tire, some fantastic chrome paint lines to bring out the vibranium look that belongs to the Panther feel and an all around beastly look to match his Ferocity.
Night Rod Special – Rogue
The Night Rod variant of the V-rod is a slick black version of our Iron Man counterpart, looking at the bike it feels like a much more armored and dangerous version of the previous V-Rod. The headlamp styling gives that ominous feel and the gas tank and rear fender styling make this look like Ultron belongs as motorcycle.
