Let’s face it. What goes on up in these complicated brains of ours can really dictate how our day/week/life is going to be. Well guess what… we have the power to take control of our brains and completely upgrade our lives. It’s all about our mindset.

We can have a positive mindset or a negative one. We can have a healthy mindset or an unhealthy one. Rebooting our mindset is the same as forming new habits (or breaking bad ones). It takes a little time. About three weeks ought to do it. But seriously folks, that’s nothing compared to the rest of our lives. After all, we have a lot of adventures to look forward to.

Here are three healthy quests to complete so you can give yourself a much deserved upgrade!

Quest #1: The Responsibility Reboot
The very first thing you’re going to have to master is taking responsibility for your own health and happiness. It’s up to you and only you. You cannot place this responsibility upon any friend, loved one, doctor, etc. It’s all on you my friend! It’s not as hard as you think… promise! Right now, declare it to yourself that as of this moment I will take control of my personal health and happiness and no one can stop me! Mwah ha ha. Okay, maybe leave out the diabolical laugh?!? Repeat this mantra daily until you get it down pat.

Quest #2: Live by the Prowess of Priority
The second thing you’ll need to master is prioritizing yourself. We have so many things we have to do and most of the time we take care of ourselves last. Or worse, we just run out of time and never get around to it. Do you have a smart phone? Of course you do! Set a reminder or calendar event for one thing every day that you can do just for yourself. Start small. Rome wasn’t built in a day after all! Book a 10 minute stretch session. Schedule a 15 minute after dinner walk. Something easy and doable that you will enjoy. Do it every day and make it stick. Before you know it the easy 10-15 minute activities will grow longer or you’ll find a way to add one or more additional small blasts of healthy “me time” into the day. This is a must!

Quest #3: Become User Friendly
Finally, you must embrace the positivity that’s all around you. It’s everywhere… really. Unfortunately, negativity slimes its way around us like the Blob all frickin’ day long! Enough! This is kind of a two-part quest. First, shut off news sources for most of the day. If something happens that we really need to know we’ll hear about it. Or, limit yourself to watching one 30-minute news program only and then move on to other things. Look for sources of “good news”. Google “good news sources” and you’ll find some. Second, become the source of positivity. Smile often, laugh as much as possible, commit random acts of kindness and keep an attitude of gratitude. Before you know it this “user friendly” way of being will just be who you are. It feels great. It will make you want to do more things to continue to feel great. Nice habit huh?
