While I was at E3 I had the pleasure of meeting one of the designers of the Nacon GC-400ES and with him he had the brand new programmable Pro controller for the PC. At first glance it just looks like another controller, however once the demonstration began I was promptly corrected.

The controller itself is comfortable to hold, the weight feels like it is in just the right place and all the buttons and sticks are moving fluidly. My hands feel like they were born to hold this controller. Now I am intrigued! How, I ask?

Quickly we move into the guts. There are counter weights. That’s right, customizable counter weights in the grips. Not only can you adjust the weight of the controller but you can also adjust the center of gravity. I have never seen this before in a controller, I am amazed and amused at this little piece of ingenuity, and yet it got better. The right stick has an amplitude of 46 degrees instead of the typical 38 (for those of us who are not scientists that means that the stick has a further range of travel).

For the eSports athlete this controller was designed specifically for you, with the help of eSports athletes. The goal of Nacon is to replace the keyboard and mouse combo with this controller, without sacrificing the accuracy and speed enjoyed by the combo. Have they done it? Only time will tell and when the controller is ready to hit the market the athletes will let them and us, know!

What separates this controller from every other programmable controller? Turns out that not only are the buttons programmable, but using the PC interface you can set up your controller exactly as you want it. Right down to the dead space and speed in the thumb-sticks. You can then save your profiles to the cloud, but you can also save 4 to the controller itself and with the press of a button you can go from using your CS:GO button layout to your COD or Overwatch button layout.

To top it off, it looks sexy! It even has a glow around the right thumb-stick, what’s the purpose of that you may ask, who cares it looks awesome! Let’s not forget that the controller has a detachable cord to make storage and transportation easier.
